Default Broken down train this evening

There have been substantial delays in DART and commuter service this evening after a train (I think it was a DART) broke down at Connolly station sometime after 5pm.

My northbound DART had to travel on the southbound track from Pearse to Connolly as a result so in effect there seemed to be only one track operating. There was another empty DART stationed on the Northbound platform at Tara Street when my DART arrived there. We also passed a Northbound commuter train stopped on the approach to Connolly. It looked like as if the broken down DART blocked entry to 2 of the 3 platforms at Connolly station.

Can anyone confirm what exactly happened this evening? What is IE procedure when a train breaks down? Do they attempt to repair it there and then or do they tow away trains?

I walked across from Pearse in time to catch the 1800 to Longford.
The IE man beside was on his phone saying there "were severe delays on northbound services from Connolly".

There was also an announcement but I missed it.
