Default [5-1-2007] Maynooth and Sligo services

This looks ugly

Maynooth & Sligo services disruption - signalling fault by Corporate Communications

Friday 5th January, 12.15hrs

Maynooth line services are currently suspended, and Longford/Sligo line services are delayed due to a signalling fault at Connolly Station.

Dublin Bus will accept rail tickets for Maynooth line customers.

Longford/Sligo services currently delayed are:

08.50hrs Sligo-Connolly

11.53hrs Connolly-Longford

We are working to rectify the fault. Iarnród Éireann apologises for the inconvenience caused.

Platform displays are not scrolling any info and all you see the Terminates Delay for the inbound Maynooth trains

Of course nothing to do with IE fiddling with the signalling to add in Spencer Dock and sort out the Sligo line CTC...

Not suprising at all that the platform information screens are not displaying any information. You have to feel for the poor sucker who will stand at pearse unsuspecting of what is going on were there any audio announcements on the platforms. I am very suprised that it has nothing to do with the ctc.

Well an hour after the first Maynooth train arrived in Pearse

Maynooth & Sligo services - normal service resumed by Corporate Communications

Friday 5th January, UPDATE 15.00HRS

Maynooth and Sligo line services are now operating normally, following earlier disruption. This was due to a damaged cable at Glasnevin which caused a signalling fault.

Iarnród Éireann apologises for the inconvenience caused.
Of course if the Midland route was open 50/50 it could have been used avoiding this hassle

Default Croke Park!

I was wondering if Irish Rail have any plans for running specific trains to Drumcondra/Croke Park for the Rugby Internationals, surely the Dublin 4 Rugby people(and visitors from the neighboring Island) may need a little extra help to get the GAA HQ on match days...
Pity the Dart couldn't run all the way.
Indeed perhaps a Special train on rugby match days direct from Limerick to Drumcondra/Croke Park could be an Idea.

You will be interested to know that IE close the Drumcondra station when theres a match on, even though it was one of the reasons why they said it was needed in the first place. It would be a very special train if it stopped, you'll be going to Connolly (if at all).

Rugby people don't use public transport, do they? mostly mercs and beemers.

oops, just saw that it was Limerick rugby people. some of them use the train. Would their train normally go all the way to Lansdowne?
