Update 20.10hrs, 13th February: Delays to trains from Heuston

13 February 2013

There are significant delays on all trains from Heuston Station at present, due to a mechanical fault on the 18.15hrs Heuston to Westport train at Sallins.

This train is moving on to Newbridge now, where it will terminate, and customers will transfer to a following train. All other trains will then proceed.

Iarnród Éireann apologises for this delay and the inconvenience caused. This website will be updated when more information is available, or follow us on Twitter for updates
Services 90-120 minutes delayed.

18.15 Heuston Westport 21.20 ETA 23.20
18.30 Heuston Galway 20.40 ETA 22.20
18.35 Heuston Waterford 20.48 ETA 22.25
19.00 Heuston Cork 21.35 ETA 23.10
19.35 Heuston Galway 21.50 ETA 22.35

Yikes. Would have thought Sallins would be ok given there's a loop there to add some flexibility, guess not.

Not a word anywhere about the fault at Howth Junction and delays of 30 minutes+ on DART and Northern Commuter services from 20:00 or so.

The plan was to move it into the loop at Sallins if the set could move without assistance however it required the 18.10 to Portlaoise to push it and Newbridge was picked so passengers could get off and transfer to another train. Some of the engines on the 18.15 had to be shut down.

Was a locomotive fault in the area.
