07:24 Portlaoise to Dublin
This train arrived into Dublin 11 minutes late this morning because it made additional stops in Monasterevan and Kildare. I'm assuming from the number of people who boarded in Portlaoise that the 07:15 service didn't run. This used to happen a lot. Anyone know if it is going to be a regular occurence?

We understand 2 train sets where immobilised over the weekend,
The 8:30 Cork Dublin struck an obstruction north of Port Loais suffered damage to brake system, probably is out of service pending repair in Inchicore this morning The 21:00 Dublin Cork struck cattle near Charleville on Saturday night, no word on damage but the last cow cost €100,000 to remove out of the underside of some coaches But who cares its the lack of information if we all knew on Sunday that there would be a problem since half a ton of cow was embedded into a train we could understand, that said there would be sufficent coaches available to cover all services on Monday morning. As usual you won't get a straight answer from Irish Rail and they will never admit that they goofed up We understand that subject to union agreement that more of the new Cork trains will roll on Wednesday which might release 3 full train sets for other services Last edited by Mark Gleeson : 28-08-2006 at 09:16. |

This morning while waiting for the 7:24 train it was announced "due to the late running of the 7:24 service the next train to Dublin will leave from platform 1" We then all headed over to the other platform and waited for the 07:41 service which had only just arrived from dublin and was sitting just beyond the platform. The next announcement "due to the late running of the 7:24 service the next train to Dublin will leave from platform 1, this train will service Portarlington and Heuston station Dublin only." The train left Portlaoise at 07:36 so it seems anyone arriving for the 07:41 may have had to have waited for the 07:24 to arrive. We stopped in Portarlington, Kildare and Heuston station Dublin as it happens.

Likewise I was in Portarlington awaiting the 7:41.Although I knew from the crowds that the earlier ex Cork train had not arrived.
The annoucement before the train arrived was that the train was non stop to Dublin but it did stop in Kildare. I suppose it keeps us on our toes. |
