Question

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me. Is there a number other than the 1850 number that can be used to contact leapcard customer services? I tried dialing with and without the +353 code on my phone (I am phoning from Scotland) but it doesn't work.

Any help would be appreciated.

There is a number, let me check.

You can of course use other contact means

Default Bit on Boards.ie about this...

Before calling LeapCard customer care I looked for the non-1850 number at SayNoTo1890.com but no luck.

I emailed customer care and was told: Being pedantic I replied that calls are 30c (not 0.30c - a factor of 100 off) and that landline numbers cost 0c (infinitely cheaper, mathematically speaking).

Anyone know the landline number? Or who I could ask? Is LeapCard under the the Department of Transport? (Leo V is my local TD).

I asked them for the regular number when I was on to them the time Dublin Bus overcharged me. They didn't know it and in fairness to the lad I was talking to he had everything else right, the only thing he got wrong was "there isn't one".

Every phone line is connected to an exchange and it has a number at that exchange, and it really should be public policy that both the LoCall and local numbers be published on everything. If Quinn Direct can do it, so can everyone else...

Phone call made to customer care (they didn't have a number to hand) and e-mail sent.

A previous enquiry on this also resulted in a negative response.

Wonder would a complaint to Comreg be of any use! Phone users are being overcharged by the lack of this facility.

Thanks for that. I did see that on the leapcard site but, when I try putting the +353 code in front of it, it didn't work. I did spot something on the Irish Rail contact page:

Quote:
For fares, train times and general information contact our Customer Information Centre on 1850 366 222.

If you are calling from outside the Republic of Ireland, please call us on +353 1 8366 222.
So I tried dialing +353 1 8824 824, which did ring but it just kept ringing with no answer and that was me phoning between the hours of 7am to 7pm. I'm coming over on Friday anyway so I'll just phone from there, I did that before and it worked.

Thanks again.

There is no logical mapping in the numbers despite the pattern with Irish Rail's numbers. There is without question a normal number just need to annoy someone to find it

Bit of a guess bit the number is likely to be something like 01 4xx xxxx based on the physical location of the call centre in Dublin

Alternatively you can call 353 1 879 8300 which is the main switch for the national transport authority and ask to be transfered

Thanks very much, I have put that in my phone for future reference.

BTW regarding the credit on the leap cards, is it definitely two years before unused credit expires?

Thanks again.

2 years is what they say but its completely arbitrary, presumably its 24 months from last transaction
