A spokesperson for Dublin City Council confirmed this afternoon that the mystery plaque on O'Connell Bridge is to be removed.

The prank monument in memory of a fictitious priest, Father Pat Noise, was erected in 2004 but was only noticed by officials last week.

It's emerged that the work is a tribute to the artists' father, and that the name "Pat Noise" is a play on the Latin "pater noster", which means "our father".

A video of the artists installing the plaque is due to be broadcast on national television this evening.
I think we should all go up and chain ourselves to the bridge.

I was right that it had been there for sometime. There was/is a plaque beside the phone boxes on the north/east side of the bridge. Anyone know what that is?
