Default New railcars from Portloaise

Not sure if this is of interest but the 0740 Portlaoise-Heuston service this morning was run by one of the new Intercity railcars. Wonder if that's going to become a permanent fixture.

what would be even nicer would be if it went to Connolly as it could start for Sligo then. [ and take paying passengers who want to go to Connolly ]

Believe it has something to do with the Railcars entering service on the Westport line this week

Portlaoise services will be entirely operated by the new (yet to arrive) 6 coach long distance commuter railcars by 2009

There's the old problem that Connolly is near capacity already, and that would involve using the Phoenix Park line, which IÉ say doesn't exist

What was interesting was that the train was actually at the Hatch at 0835
