Impact of Adamstown on Kildare Line
Adamstown Station is due to open on the 10th of April.
Journey time approx 14 mins The AM timetable announced is Depart 7.04 7.28 7.59 8.29 9.04 PM from Heuston Depart 16.05 17.18 18.05 18.50 The SDZ plan states the capacity per peak hour should be 600 passengers per hour AM and PM. This is indicative and not a planning condition like the 3000 capacity after the KRP. Implies 240 spare places per train arriving in Adamstown in the am peak hours. Implies 300 spare places per train departing from Heuston in the pm peak hours. Given the current loading and capacity of the trains will this be met in the AM or PM or both? If not what would Irish Rail need to do to deliver it? Last edited by dfl : 02-03-2007 at 21:06. |

Won't make any real difference. Trains already full arrving Adamstown. Those trains which had the extra Sallins stop added, will see it removed from April 9th
It will be at least 2009 before there will be any serious increase in capacity The 18:50 to Newbridge regularly leaves with empty seats, thats 450 standing spaces |

Himmmm, whist the station may "open" i dont think many will use it at forst, so unappealing is the surrounding area, whihc yesterday resembled a very muddy building site, in fact it was a very muddy building site.
Cant see any tarmack down form the train, suppose there must be some there? Car park, access road? Do they exist on the ground? Well, i suppose they still have a month, and the ground is generally drying out. |
