Timetable Change Deferred

As we somewhat guessed already the hourly service to Cork has been abandoned until Jan 14th

Just like the trains even the timetable can't be on time

Current timetable validity extended until 13th January 2007 by Corporate Communications

Customers are advised that the current Iarnród Éireann timetable across all services (Intercity, DART, Commuter) will now operate up to 13th January 2007.

The new schedule will now be introduced on the 14th January 2007 after the Christmas / New Year period, featuring a range of service improvements, including the introduction of hourly services on the Cork-Dublin route.

Full details of service changes will be available soon. Christmas / New Year service details will also be available shortly.

It much worse than you think since we know what was in the new timetable and it would have been very handy at Christmas.

Shoudl be a statement on this in the next few days, can't say we didn't tell hourly to Cork wasn't happening we have known since April that they hadn't a chance

I thought it was an EU wide directive that all new timetables come into force across Europe annually on 11 Dec?

The new IE timetable is already available to other European operators.

As Mark said, we predicted months ago, that they wouldn't make it. Information suggests that its more than just suspension problems with the Mk4s. It appears that IE management have been rather slow to deal with "staff issues" and once again we may be on the brink of yet more disruption due to poor management from the crew in head office.

Hourly to Cork was meant for December 2005.

In June 2005 P11 knew of suspension problems on the Mk4s. Introduction delayed due to staff issues.

December 2005 timetable remains unimaginiative.

In April 2006, we predicted industrial relations problems affecting introduction of Mk4s. IE denied it and then all hell broke lose in May.

Suspension problems persist, but word has it that new trains are ready and its unresolved staff issues causing the delay. (we know one set is in Connolly on blocks)

Some of this could be wrong, but bottom line tells us that new timetable is deferred.... again. The important point here is that they didn't explain to their weary customers the reason why.

We can talk all night about the technical stuff, but at the end of the day IEs communication of fact to customers through their own resources is woeful. They only seem to talk when pushed by an informed media source. Thats not customer service.

If anything the technical problems should have given IE breathing space to deal with staffing issues! They've had months more than was originally planned.
