Corparate communications have set a new level of deviousness

Note there is no one in the DART office to answer the phone either

Pearse Station closed - storm damage by Corporate Communications

15.40hrs, 12th March 2008

Iarnród Éireann advises customers that due to storm damage to the roof of Dublin's Pearse Station, the station has been closed for the remainder of the day.

Rail services will operate normally, through Pearse Station, but will not stop at Pearse Station.

Customers intending to travel to or from Pearse Station are advised to use Grand Canal Dock, Tara Street or Connolly Stations for all rail services for the remainder of today.

Iarnród Éireann apologises for the inconvenience caused.

Default Beat me to it

They just announced it on the RTE radio news too.

Let's hope they have some serious crowd management on the Northbound platform at Tara Street - the platform is pretty narrow in places there. I wouldn't like to see the crowds there when all the usual crew who jam up the platform in Pearse have to go to Tara Street also.

I was thinking that, I was also thinking is there a way with the current Pearse parking setup for Commuter trains to start from the northbound platform on GCD.

Also hopefully staff are ready to ensure Commuter trains that Terminate in Pearse are cleared of passengers at Tara Street

Forgot to check the web before leaving the office and was greeted by staff telling me the station was closed.

Don't forget the Townsend enterance at Tara St is pretty close. Platform was a bit crowded, though.

Not easy find, so directions

Exit Pearse station, cross road to TCD side, continue along Pearse Street towards College Green, take the right at O'Neill's pub continue to the junction with Neds/Centra, turn left continue under railway bridge entrance should be there on the right

Note this entrance closes at 19:00

Thanks for the directions!

Will keep a note of them for if/when something like this happens again.

Of course information on the ground was a disaster

Show up at Pearse, big notice says station closed due to storm damage

Nothing to tell you to go Tara Street, or indeed that trains where actually running.

When I got there, there were about six staff members intercepting people and telling them the station was closed and giving directions to the other stations. I was concerned about missing my train, so I didn't hang around to find out where people were being directed to, or how accurate the directions were.
