Default Connolly and Busaras Stops to re-open 07/09/2008

I took a look the other day, lots of work done, but lots of work still to do. They have all but restored the link, but they need to put in a final section of track and put the roadway back together and re-commission everything.

I preseume they will then complete the other two sides of the delta.

Connolly and Busáras Luas Stops on the Luas Red Line will re-open on Sunday September 7th and Luas services at these stops will return to normal. This 12 week closure was necessary to facilitate the on-going construction of the Luas Docklands Line. We would like to thank you for your patience and co-operation during these works. They have been working day and night in recent weeks. I pass by the place usually between 2am and 4am and there are always people there working. During the day, the number of workers in Veolia and RPA vests increases to easily two dozen. I am glad they are finishing it up now... walking around that construction site is a rather large detour.

I have not noticed any new poles for the certainly more complex (and heavy) OHLE that will be needed for the junction though. My guess would be that they put some temporary wires in place now and then do that kind of work during weekend closures in 2009.

Test trams are currently operating Abbey Street - Connolly, so hopefully services will start as planned tomorrow.

Be careful because road traffic hasn't got used to the resumption of tram operations and the presence of pedestrians. In particular, pedestrians crossing Store Street from Busaras at the taxi rank to the Garda Station are doing so blindly due to the presence of parked coaches.

Note: the ramp at the west end (away from Connolly) of Busaras may not be in place in time.
