3 minute timelapse of ~20 minute Toronto-Toronto Pearson airport train run
To announce the commencement of the new heavy rail shuttle from downtown to the suburban airport, the Premier of Ontario did a media availability on a test train the other day. Global News sent up an aircraft to do a chase video. This is the result. The slow approach to the terminal is because the train lines up with platform doors.

The airport service has basically two full tracks to itself. The upgrade has involved a single track bridge being four tracked, a small tunnel section, a rail-rail grade separation and a road-rail separation in addition to other works. Total spend about 300 million Euro but it will also benefit suburban and intercity services.

As the June 6th launch date approaches there have been a few more events for media etc. Here's an article with high res photos of the platforms and train interiors.
http://www.blogto.com/city/2015/05/t...e_in_ action/ One of the reasons IE might like to have a DART link to the airport is that then you get to go to a conference... for air rail links. There are awards. This is not a drill. |
