Default Why is nothing leaving Hueston?

Because there is a drunk woman on platform 6 causing a nuisance I assumee.

Or maybe it's just because this is irish rail at it's very best.

Depending on what you can see from your device, does the situation on the ground agree with this page: http://www.irishrail.ie/your_journey/results.asp

Westport train left at 6.51.

Thurles and waterford train still sitting here.

Static filled announcement just made to say we're sorry for the delay, we'll be on our way shortly, delay due to all trains leaving late. So informative.

Waterford train left at 6.57. Presume the thurles train will be about 5 minutes after

Not to worry. I'm guessing at some sort of signaling fault as trains aren't showing properly on the RealTime system.

Yep, on the Waterford train too, another announcement after we left telling us we are 15 mins late.....even though we are actually 25+ mns late, must be 'irish rail time'!! Useless articles

I must be in the other set of cars as we got no announcement about being 15 minutes late when we're really 25 minutes late.

I'm looking forward to the various random delays along the way tonight, should be in waterford around half 9 if i'm lucky!

I'm heading all the way to waterford kilo so 6.05 no good to me.

Finally in carlow at 7.53, left at 7.58. On a night like tonight you'd wonder what was happening at the other end to delay the waterford to dublin train?

And this morning. 6am train from waterford to dublin has yet to board. Heard two lads whispering about something being wrong with the train. No announcement for customers though.

Boarding in 5 minutes allegedly. There was a problem with one of the sets so they had to change it.

Departed at 6.07

I know the location would only have directly affected Cork and Kerry trains, but could it have been a knock on effect of the Cork line getting closed after someone was hit by a train in Elton?

comor: that occurred to me as well. An early afternoon line closure south of Lim Jcn would mean late afternoon arrivals from Cork being disrupted and this might leave Heuston short of a trainset. In turn this would mean extra stops for some trains and trains departing Heuston out of sequence.

As for observations about late running in general, the situation is (for once) well explained by the IE notice on leaf fall and its effects. Drivers will be justifiably very cautious if braking is compromised by bad rail conditions. Yesterday, even on the roads, the mush of fallen leaves was very slippy in places

The delay in Carlow was because the 18:20 to Hueston was delayed in Balylhale because the 16:35 to Waterford was running around 20 mins late.
