Angry [23-2-2006] 5:30 From Cork, Ex N'bridge 7.55

30 Minutes delayed, no communication, overcrowded as Arrow was due to depart at roughly the same as the Cork train eventually arrived. Is there no end to this poor service. Oh yes some muffled announcement in Heuston regarding Operational difficulties....somewhere!! Stress again this train was dangerously overcrowed after it stopped in Newbridge, it got worse after Sallins and Hazelhatch!

Thumbs down 7.41 train from Portlaoise?

I was on the same train this morning, although whether it was the Cork train or the Portlaoise train was debatable.

Some people thought it was the Cork train that had been delayed and arrived at 8.11 in Kildare (the same time as the Portlaoise train). However, the train stopped in both Hazelhatch & Sallins, which would suggest it was the Portlaoise train that was on time when it reached Kildare and the Cork train had not arrived.

Either ways, the train was jammed. I "just" managed to get a seat in the first class carriage after walking the entire length of the train. By the time it stopped at Newbridge, there were people standing in the aisles of the carriages (including the first class carriage!)

This was the Cork train.
This is not the first time the 7:41 from Portlaoise has failed and the Cork train has had to take over and do the in between stations.
The train arrived in Portarlington at about 7:45 this morning and stayed there for about 10 minutes until all passengers for the subsequent train got onboard.

Unhappy

3 March 2006 and guess what, this train is again 30 minutes late getting into Newbridge, not announcement until we are told it is leaving Kildare! Well done Irish Rail. Is there any end to this poor service!

If it's 30 mins late all the time, they'llm simply change the timetable to show the late arrival as being on time................

Apparently these delays were blamed on works between Portlaoise and Ballybrophy this morning.

I'm told that passengers in Portlaoise were only informed of the delay 15 mins after the train was due to arrive
