Default 1 Day Ticket question

Maybe this is a silly question but I think it's worth asking.

I went to HJ&D Dart station on Saturday and had to make several trips by Dart so I used the TVM to buy an all day ticket. The machine offered me two choices: inner hop and outer hop. No matter which of these I chose, it then showed me a screen which only mentioned short hop tickets.

There was no indication if short hop was inner hop, outer hop or a third, undocumented kind. I checked the IR website but the price I paid (€8.40, I think) didn't match the only ticket I could find there which was an All Day Rail ticket.

When I purchased the ticket, it didn't say which zones it applied to and had a box where I had to write a CIE ID Card number. Are ID cards really required for one day adult tickets? If they are, surely the TVM should say this before selling them?

There really is no inner short hop anymore it vanished some time ago

The ID box is a known bug which I thought Irish Rail had nailed in the most recent software. I'd is not required for any 1 and 3 day tickets
