Default New Timetable

Any sign of a draft of the new intercity timetable promised for September. Would IR consider airing the draft on RUI inviting comment before making their final decisions.

Irish Rail do not discuss the timetable with anyone, its imposed

There is an element of not invented here syndrome

12 weeks notice period for timetable changes with plenty of time to allow for passenger feedback on any major changes is what is required.

We intend to call for this in our forthcoming policy document.

So the new timetable talk is in swing.

Talk of shorter trains, tidy up of daytime peak services, the new rosslare services, talk of overnight layovers of maynooth services, talk of later sunday evening maynooth services, talk of tidy up of DART services.

All just talk!

We know who hold all the answers to all this speculation.

We probably wont get the answers until the new timetable is implemented in September.

There is no need to run 8 coach trains around at 11am, the amount of money being wasted is crazy

Well this concept would apply to some Intercity routes as well. There is not a need to overindulge in 6-coach intercity sets across the network.

Irish rail will need to be prudent in more ways than 1.

Edit: Sorry i meant to say not all intercity services need to be 6-coach

Yeah, prudent to ensure passengers don't have to stand on an intercity journey at say the weekends = using 6 coach sets. Its the summertime which means lots more passengers = longer trains required
