5.30am Cork to Heuston Station
Its has been canceled due to unofficial strike action in Cork

Thurles 0649
Templemore 0657
Ballybrophy 0709
Portlaoise 0724
Portarlington 0735
Dublin Heuston 0830

7:30 Newbridge Dublin
7:41 Port Laois Dublin
Have been canceled due to unofficial strike action in Dublin

No details on IE site

Note also Dublin drivers also on strike so further Kildare services to be disrupted

Latest news from IE indicates no commuter services will operate today

All Kildare, Port Laois services are cancelled

Good news is the Galway evening services are running as are the evening Waterford services but not the 19:45 to Athy

There was some mention on another thread of disruption on the Maynooth line. I know there was a train breakdown at Broombridge this morning, so hopefully that was all.

So far everything on the Northern and Southeastern lines seems unaffected.

All right folks here is the deal based on info to hand for Kildare and Newbridge

17:55 to Galway is running, calls Newbridge and Portarlington
19:05 to Galway is running, calls Newbridge and Kildare

A few of you spotted me in Heuston this morning, got a few waves, best of luck home

Irish Rail warns of second day of disruption

Irish Rail is warning passengers that they may face a second day of disruption tomorrow as a result of unofficial industrial action by train drivers.

Up to 35,000 rail users were affected today because of the dispute over the introduction of new trains.

Irish Rail says the last train has left Heuston Station for the night with the 7pm train to Galway - five other scheduled trains for later tonight have been cancelled.

Of a total of 50 scheduled departures from Heuston Station today only 13 trains left the station.

For further travel info telephone Irish Rail at 1850 366 222.

Its worse than yesterday

Only train serving Kildare and Newbridge is the 6:05 and 7:30 out of Waterford

Cannot believe the 1730 to Limerick is running!!! (bad experiances on that train!!!)

Maybe they'll sneak a cde on it for a laugh....

One fact that I did not see or hear being mentioned is, the so called new trains are being driven by the exact same engines the drivers are using for up to 12 years.
Anyone I spoke to about the strike were under the impression the engines were new as well as the coaches.
It should be explained the push/pull mode being used for years on other trains - e.g. Dublin/Belfast Enterprise and Dublin/Waterford - is excactly the same method of propulsion being used for the so called new Mark IV coaches.
Would Platform 11 get this point across to the media? One would have thought IR would have done so?

We know this and have known this for a long time and if I get half a chance next Monday I'll let lose. We managed to get this fact on various radio stations over the last few days. Admittedly the control car has a touch screen train management computer, not the first train in Ireland to have such, and its not needed anyway unless something breaks. The media unfortunately don't like complex details once they knew the control desk was the same they where happy

Irish Rail control access to the train currently and they have hidden this even as far as using computer trickery to CGI out the locomotive in the tv ads. The trains are currently parked to hide the locomotive as well

There is no new intercity train

Well, to be fair Seamus, we have been saying this where we can, i've been doing it on the internet and also speaking to many friends who live here in Tipp and commute everyday to Dublin by train.

It has been a very frentic couple of days, the story is now receeding into the backgound. Next step is write letters to your local papers, which is what I'm doing, because that is a spin free zone.

Whats the offical line on compensation for the two days disruption if you are a weekly/monthly/annual ticket holder who was forced to either drive up or take a bus??

RTE ran that story angle and also had footage of inside the cab. Most people do actually think they are new trains and engines etc..

What I can say is Northern Ireland Railways issued full refunds to all ticket holders in there recent one day strike.
