Ireland.com finally got the story straight, but we have a witness that someone was removed from the Limerick train in Kildare

Quote:
Heuston train bomb alert is a hoax

Clodagh Mulvey

A bomb scare, which caused delays to trains travelling to Heuston train station in Dublin this afternoon, has been declared a false alarm.

An anonymous call to Sligo town garda station at 11.30am warned there would be a bomb aboard a train arriving in Heuston station at about 3 o' clock this afternoon, the Garda press office confirmed.

Two train services due into Heuston at 3pm, the 12.35pm from Limerick and the 13.30pm from Cork, were stopped and checked by Gardai at Kildare and Thurles respectively.

However no suspicious devices were found and Gardai, who left Heuston at 3.30pm with little disruption to the operation of the train station, said it was a false alert.

Iarnród Éireann said it apologised to its customers affected by the alert. Passengers travelling from Limerick were delayed by 50 minutes during the Garda inspections at Kildare, while Cork passengers experienced a 24 minute delay.

A spokesman for Iarnród Éireann told ireland.com : "We apologise to our passengers for the delay. We work with the Gardai on all security matters and continue to work on their advice. Thankfully it was a hoax."

It is not yet known who is responsible for the false alarm.

My son was on the train affected. Seen police remove a passenger at Kildare. Whether or not this is linked with the incident is not confirmed.
