Default [30-1-2009] Kilkenny Waterford closed

Quote:
Kilkenny to Waterford line closed due to flooding by Corporate Communications

09.45hrs 30th January 2009

The line between Kilkenny and Waterford is currently closed, due to flooding. Bus transfers are in operation between Kilkenny and Waterford.

Iarnród Éireann apologises for the inconvenience caused.
Its bucketing down in the south of the country, that said the Waterford line is generally on an embankment so it shouldn't be flooded

I wonder if the flodding is in Waterford itself, where the tracks are very close to the high spring tide mark, and the Southerly gales pile up water in the Suir estuary. In that case the trains from Limerick Junction and Rosslare should be affected as well.

That would be my first guess, but they said nothing about the Limerick Waterford line in the notice, but then again they rarely post a notice when the line is closed for engineering works anyway
