Dart this morning had 'Funcion' on the display at each end of the carriage.

Maybe they're trying to cater for all the Spanish students who come over for the summer?

Maybe the announcement system is a member of a new militant trade union for computers and is currently on strike?

Scrolling display (internal) on a Malahide-bound DART (left Dún Laoghaire around 9.40) was:

The next station is BRAY
Destination BRAY
This is the last stop.

Um, no.

All the way, too (well, at least until I left at Pearse).

I was on the 14:13 Longford Bray yesterday

The destination on the back read Newry/Statsuin Na bPiarsach ,no PIS and the PA volume inaudible

This morning on the 7.30 Wicklow to Connolly train the PA announced some disjointed phrases a number of times; "This train is for calling at Iarnrod Eireann" and something to the effect of "do not attempt to leave the train".

These seemed to be in place of announcing what the next station was as it happened after each stop.

I have a scrolling-text LED badge which I have set up with the stations on my regular route (Sandymount-Pearse or Connolly) and have taken to activating when on an 81xx/83xx or one of the trains with a broken communication system. It's more reliable, usually...

Thursday 4 October the 17:25 Limerick, via Portlaoise, from platform 3 in Heuston was delayed. The queue for this and the 17:50 train to Galway were, by 17:50, mixed up in each other. Eventually the queue started moving and when I got onto platform 3 there was no train there at all. It was now 18:00 and I realised everyone in front of me was getting on the train on platform 4. I naively assumed this to be the Limerick train I had been waiting for so got on board. It was after all the only one there, and I had been in the same queue for 40 minutes by now. I didn't realise it was in fact the Galway train I had boarded until I noticed it hadn't stopped in Kildare as I was expecting. There were no announcements made on board. I had to go to the buffet car and ask a staff member what train I was on.

Luckily I could persuade a kind soul to come and collect me in Portarlington.

The accessibility rules require the destination to be displayed either front or rear or alternatively to be displayed on the side of each coach

Mk4 displays destination on its side and thus complies

On-platform display read "Welcome to Greystones station" instead of giving any info about the train waiting at the platform. This was at 8.20 this morning. I had to look inside the train itself at the scrolling display to find out where the train was going.

On returning home last evening via Greystones, I noticed the on-platform display was still displaying its welcome message instead of any useful information so I assume that this is an on-going problem.

As far as we know the display in Greystones never says anything useful. The signaling installed currently cannot talk to the display, will be at least Easter next year before a fix is possible

The delayed 1604 Maynooth to Pearse was stating Newry/St na bPiarsach as its destination front and back today.

17:55 Sligo - Connolly was 10mins late. Initially it was 5 minutes late, then it stopped to give way to a DART heading Northbound, followed by a Southbound one. Also it arrived on Platform 2, I thought this platform was for the Enterprise?

Tuesday the 18:10 northbound from blackrock displayed 'Tara Street' on the front. Had me worried, but still went all the way to Howth
