Default Bicycle parking at heuston

Hi,

Does anyone leave a bike at Heuston over night and if so how safe are they.

I'd bring it on the train daily but with the charges it just would have me broke in a month.

With a new train, fingers crossed, leaving Heuston for Portarlginton at 16:25 with the new time table i will need to get down there quick smart and leaving a bike at the station is my best bet !

Could a mod move this to general rail please.........location my mistake

There have been reports of thefts from time to time.

As usual, use a bike that looks like it isn't worth much and use two locks (one cable, one D-lock) and lock each wheel to the frame and stand.

There is around of bike rack improvements due soon

Some stations, M3 Parkway for example have steel boxes where you can lock the bike and keep the rain off

I am looking into it now.

OP, when I was commuting everyday I cycled to and from Hueston. My bike was brand new and only locked with one lock. It was left over night and over weekends, also, left over the Christmas holidays. Never had any bother. Not saying that's the case for everyone but in my experience the bike place is secure enough.

What's the latest on security for bikes? I have to get an early morning intercity, so it'll be bike or taxi to heuston, returning the same day so no overnight. Have the proposed security improvements happened?

i see the bike shed/area quite often in heuston, and it seems to me to be well used and quite full. there is often someone from IE wandering about as well in the general area and it is right beside the driver accomodation building.

i have only noted a few instances of valdalisim to bikes, but i know, from seeing it elsewhere, that you can whip off a bike in seconds and be gone on it.
