Default Kishogue Opening Date

Hi,

Does anyone have an idea when the Kishogue station is due to open. I can't find it any where?

Also are there any plans to increase the frequency of the commuter service from Adamstown, stopping at Kishogue in the near future? I am hoping to use it from next month, (using either Adamstown or Clonondalkin) but the current frequency means long waits in between trains.

No idea on the dates. Clondalkin and Park West where replacement stations which had to be opened to build the 4 track route as to allow the demolition of the current stations. Given the capacity restrictions it might be that Kishogue will not open for quite some time

Service frequency once the Kildare route project is complete will be 4 trains per hour peak, 2 per hour off peak. Late 2009 early 2010. Nothing extra at peak times

When the Kildare route is electrified it will be at least 6 per hour peak

I imagine Kishogue is at least 3 months away - they only have the shell of the station up.

Pardon the darkness of the last picture, but it seems to show the new track is in place, but nothing seems to have been done yet on the platforms. Its looking west from the bridge at Kishogue towards Adamstown.

Thanks for the replys guys.

I suppose I was hoping against hope that there was addition frequency planned however, having used the Clondalkin Station this morning, there was only one other person getting on the 7:10 train to Heuston so it seems there isn't the demand yet. Mine was the only car in the carpark this morning and again this evening - I can see why it's free.....

I had another look today. I imagine it could open in about 2-6 weeks time, but thats without being able to see inside.

One problem is how to get across the Jersey Barrier in the middle of the dual carriageway.

Thats interesting Don Cunningham or IE stated that they expected it to open Jan 2010 back in Nov 25th. Although he did say it was ahead of schedule I didnt expect him to say 11 or 10 months ahead.

Happy days if it does open.

Realistically the route can't cope with a further stop, the Adamstown stop caused enough trouble

I'd expect opening same day the 4 track section comes into full use

From a planners point of view the fact that such large tracts of land along both sides of the rail line have laid undeveloped for so long is an indication of the lack of land use and transportation (LUTS) planning in this country.

In some incidents it must be said that it wasnt for lack of studies but rather planning decisions at a local authority level and slow to non existant implimentation.

Compare the empty land banks along the Kildare and Maynooth rail lines from the M50 to Adamstown and Clonee to the sprawl alongside the N4 and the N3 routes and your'll see what I mean.

I suppose there is a difference between "can open (station finished)", "can open (available rolling stock and slots)" and "will open".

Planned for the early 1970's.

Liam Lawlor and his fellow crooked councilor types put paid to that though.

Sure, but what about bus passengers who have been dropeed off opposite the station? Or someone with luggage or kids who are being set down by car (no car park).

But at Fonthill, the road is much narrower and doesn't have a big Jersey Barrier in the middle. As its on the crest of a hill, a pedestrian crossing could be fitted.

One would almost think they got the design of the two mixed up.

Just to confirm Kishogue won't open until the 4 track is complete, as it doesn't have a platform on the down fast track which is currently used by all outbound services

I have read on previous posts that the 4 track won't open until the end of this year or beginning of 2010. Any idea what the delay is? I pass it every day and it looks to me like it is 99% complete. Other than the connections at each end to the existing tracks, and some tidying up around the sides, I am not sure what else they have to do?

The company [Iarnrod Eireann] will not open Kishogue station, near Clondalkin, on the Kildare line from Heuston to Hazelhatch because development in the area has not materialised as expected.

"Kishogue was being developed on the basis that there would be major development in the surrounding area but, quite simply, nothing has happened," the spokesman said.

I guess they're talking about this development by Shelbourne Development Ltd (http://www.shelbournedevelopment.com...ase.php?id=105 / http://www.sdublincoco.ie/index.aspx...ref=SD09A/0149) and the Clonburris SDZ in general.

There doesn't seem to be much development going on in this area at all. So could be a while yet.
