Is there any point in complaining to IE about an unfriendly if not rude member of staff on a recent mk4 trip? [Date etc withheld] It was NOT the aforementioned Joe who I had the pleasure to travel with once and agree with the other posters' comments

Apologies if this should be a new thread, it would not let me start one.

You should complain, at least then there is a record.

Date and time are no problem to post here, name of the host would be a problem.

Some are good, some are bad

Weird. Anyway, I've split it out.

What could be a problem there? What exactly happened?

On the regular basic I see hosts have quiet comfortable disposition with newspapers and coffees in the dining car

I would offer one of the catering crew would do host duties, but it would not be possible in the current environment

It was the unfriendly and rude manner in which the employee concerned inspected tickets that I found unacceptable. I'm still not convinced there is any point complaining.

Other than that I had a pleasant round trip to Cork (and Midleton) although the return train managed to be 7 minutes late into Heuston even with the ridiculous amount of padding in the timetable.

I have sometimes heard it said Cork line drivers don't drive fast enough but can't personnally comment

If a train arrives early, black boxes get pulled and a 1 mph infringement is trouble - despite 3mph being officially permitted in the rules

At the moment many Cork trains won't make it on time due the ridiculous number of speed limits, gone are the 20 minute early arrivals

Ticket checker is not the train host

Joe, wow i've had a few run ins with him as well.

I'd love to hear other comments about him and is attitude towards other rail users.
