As it stands the numbers need to increase from the current dismal average of 3 a day to 30 a day to come even close to covering 50% of the costs. Not likely People need to wake up and realize it just doesn't work Who their right mind wants to book? You get a coach to yourself!

![]() By comparison, a trial service designed for workers at Sellafield (the nuclear plant) in England, has been suspended as it was only attracting 30-70 passengers per train.

![]() A new postal sorting office got approval in Thurles months ago, but the NRA removed its objections to it last week (because of the bypass route selection which took 5 years, planning permission applications out that road were either frozen or not granted) as soon as they did remove this objection sure enough Alan Kelly was in the paper this week claiming the fame saying I did that. Usual gombeenism.
It wasn't just the local papers it was advertised in. National press, Internet radio and plastered on few pages on Labour.ie |

![]() We're finally getting a pedestrian crossing at the top of our road here. A local council action. All but one of our TDs, including a national party leader, sent letters that claimed credit. I'm sure the one who didn't was told not to because it was the territory of his party colleague. Really, it's something I want my local councillors to take care of when the TDs help run the country.

![]() The new revised early service departing Limerick at 05.05 and arriving Heuston at 08.33 is now advertised on the IE website, with a reference to NTA approval (sounds a bit post-hoc to me).
When you click on the link to the pdf timetable it shows thee "old" departure and arrival times of 05.15 and 08.25. Typical and absolutely brilliant world class IE incompetence. As for a certain Mr Kelly: this is precisely the kind of political "fixing" that so disgusted the electorate a year ago. |

total unique passengers on the 05-something train between Limerick and Ballybrohy last week was 17. you can poster allyou want, the demand just isnt there. A friend of mine who would, along with myself, have plenty of work to do in dublin and who takes the train still prefers to drive from his house outside Nenagh to Templemore to get the train. His ad-hoc impression of the experiance between Roscrea and Ballybrophy was almost obscene, and not too inaccurate. It would appear that pulling the train back to almost 5am departure and giving it an almost 8.35 am arrival time in Heuston has sorted out the timetable. However, it arrives so close to the 6.20 ex limerick in Ballybrophy that you would wonder why they dont just abandon the exercise and use it as a shuttle. |

![]() If it's a shuttle I think it should try to meet the ex Cork service. Being in Dublin by 0810 has got to be useful to somebody and there's the fallback of the 0840 arrival if that one is missed. The reality is though the line is a conundrum - it might work if you threw a lot of money at improvements but with the M7 beside and so many other needs in the system how can you spend it in good conscience?
If Nenagh had mini CTC or was at least a block post you could do some interesting and cost-saving stuff if trains were stabled. But it isn't, so there's not much point talking about them. |

![]() Here's a stunning thought - maybe IE should partner with JJK like BE does with Gobus.
