Sadly annual tickets are phase 2 so status quo will remain, however the tickets will be changed in early/mid 2012 to the single card

So will be able if you have a rail/bus card you can use it on the Luas (or any other operator) if you add epurse credit

An outcome of the Dodder bridge works is that the south Wexford line saw activity yesterday when the sets employed on Bray/ Rosslare Europort service were swopped over using that route.

I really hope so, costing me €15 a day as the replacement transfer bus for Rosslare users is ridiculously slow so I'm using Bus Eireann. Really unfair the way DART users get to use either Dublin Bus or a transfer bus but us commuters on the Rosslare route get an unusable transfer bus only.

If you have a monthly or annual ticket, you could submit a claim that your service did not operate as scheduled (your choice of stop not served, bus substitution, additional interchange and substantial delays) and seek partial reimbursement - as was offerred in the case of the Malahide collapse.

DART/Rosslare disruption: line closed Grand Canal Dock to Sydney Parade, work progressing well by Corporate Communications


UPDATE Sunday 6th November, 16.15hrs

Iarnród Éireann has advised customers that works to reopen the DART line at the River Dodder, at Lansdowne Road Station, are progressing ahead of schedule.

The line has been closed between Grand Canal Dock and Sydney Parade since Thursday 27th October due to river bed erosion caused by the Dublin floods in the vicinity of a bridge pier at the Dodder Bridge, to the south end of Lansdowne Road Station.

The works to repair this damage had been expected to be completed by Friday 11th November. However, excellent progress has been made to date. Engineers now plan to operate test locomotives across the bridge tomorrow (Monday 7th November) and subject to these tests being succcessful, the line would reopen earlier in the week than originally planned. We expect to be in a position to confirm a reopening date and time tomorrow afternoon.

While works continue, there is serious disruption to southside DART services and Rosslare / Gorey rail services. Services affected are:


DART: DART services will operate Howth/Malahide to Grand Canal Dock, and from Sydney Parade to Greystones (note Southside service will be reduced in frequency, operating every 30 minutes, to the scheduled Greystones DART timetable).

There will be no DART service between Grand Canal Dock and Sydney Parade.

Dublin Bus will accept rail tickets for customers affected, on all southside routes to/from areas on the DART line south of Grand Canal Dock.

In addition, from 07.00hrs-10.00hrs and 15.00hrs-19.30hrs, Monday to Friday, a shuttle bus service will operate between Booterstown and Pearse Station for rail customers. The companies will continue to review service provision for customers throughout the disruption.

List of existing Dublin Bus routes accepting rail tickets:

Grand Canal Dock: Route 4, Route 7, Route 8, Route 45, Route 47(all operate via Lower Mount Street)
Lansdowne Road: Route 4, Route 7, Route 8, Route 45, Route 47 (all operate via Northumberland Road)
Sandymount: Route 2, Route 3, Route 18
Sydney Parade: Route 2, Route 3. Routes 4, 7, 8, 45 and 47 operate via Merrion Road.
Booterstown: Route 4, Route 7, Route 8, Route 45. Routes 7b, 7d, 46a, 47 and 145 operate via Stillorgan Road.
Blackrock: Route 4, Route 7, Route 8, Route 45, Route 46e
Seapoint: Route 7, Route 8, Route 45 (all operate via Newtown Avenue)
Salthill & Monkstown: Route 7, Route 8. Route 4 operates to Monkstown Avenue.
Dun Laoghaire: Route 7, Route 46a
Sandycove & Glasthule: Route 7d. Route 7 operates via Lower Glenageary Road
Glenageary: Route 7, Route 7d, Route 8
Dalkey: Route 7d, Route 8
Killiney: Route 7 operates via Churchview Road and Wyattville Road. Route 7b operates via Shanganagh Road
Shankill: Route 7b. Route 145 operates via Bray Road
Bray: Route 45, Route 145
Greystones: Route 84 and Route 84x. Route 45 to Oldcourt via Bray Main Street. Route 145 to Kilmacanouge via Bray Main street and Southern Cross.

Rosslare/Gorey: Rosslare and Gorey services will operate Rosslare/Gorey to Bray, with bus transfers between Bray and Dublin Connolly.

Other commuter: Other commuter services which operate from Drogheda or Maynooth to Dun Laoghaire and Bray will now only operate from Drogheda/Maynooth to Pearse. Dublin Bus will accept rail tickets for customers travelling south of Pearse.

Dodder Bridge, Lansdowne Rd - bridge and damage:

The line has been closed due to damage to the ground in the vicinity of a pier on the Dodder Bridge at the south end of Lansdowne Road Station.

This area was flooded on Monday 24th October, during the torrential rainfall in the Dublin area. At least two large trees which fell were swept downstream by the River Dodder and were lodged under the bridge, causing debris to build up at and under the bridge.

The bridge is a single span structure, and as part of new safety protocols adopted following the investigations into the Malahide Viaduct accident in 2009, a detailed inspection is automatically carried out of structures affected by a major flood event as soon as possible.

This inspection carried out by divers, showed river bed erosion in the vicinity of a support pier of the bridge, as a result of the flood of 24th Ocotber. No such damage was present at its previous underwater inspection in October 2009. When this damage was identified, Iarnród Éireann closed the structure as a precautionary measure, to allow repair works to be carried out.

There were 10-15 minute delays to southbound suburban trains and DARTs around 8am, but no anouncements. Assume it was linked to Dodder bridge.
And there were 20 munite delays to northbound DARTs at 9pm. This also delayed Northern suburban trains. Nothing on the LED displays and CTC as usual telling passengers nothing, so not sure why the delays.Checked with staff and they had no ideas

Mainly down to leaves and rain today. There is a minor delay at Lansdowne due a speed restriction but the trains were all delayed before reaching there
