Default 4 car 29K today

I am currently on the 1800 ex sligo for dublin.

IR have sent a 29K four car set, why? why is this continiously happening, yet they will allow 22K to operate docklands to M3 parkway? Why a even a four car set, its jammed, with nowhere to sit and we have literally only left sligo, when we get to carrick, longford etc it will get worse.

C'mon IR get with the programme, its 2013 ye have a full fleet of 22K in operation, stop using 29Ks on intercity routes.

Should be an 8 set of 2900. 5.40 from Longford failed this morning which may take two sets out of service. Its 2900 doing the M3 shuttle unless 22 work direct ones?

nope, at least two 3 car sets of 22K operating the docklands-m3 parkway route during the week

its not good enough the 29K is so uncomfortable for a three hour journey.

It alternates, but last night it was definitely a 22k on the evening M3 Parkway shuttle. Having said that allocations were all over the place yesterday, the 20:08 Pearse Maynooth was a 3 car 22k instead of the usual 8car 29k.

There is a lot less 22 on the shuttle. I passed 3 days last week at mid to late afternoon and all shuttles were non 22. The failure yesterday messed things up

Kinda off topic but a member of staff in Kent told me on Thursday the 2600's will be replaced by 29000s later this year. From pictures of the 29ks interior they actually look more comfortable than the 26/7/800s.

Would be suprised at that would double capacity and operating costs, demand cant justify this can it?

Even while I was down in Cork on a Sunday some time ago, the trains seemed well patronised, though I don't know what the 2600s fate is to be yet...

Just did a qucik wiki serach and I didn't knwo the 2600 in service 20 years. Have they had an overhauls done over the last few years and if not then maybe its to costly to overhaul a train thats 20 years old? No dought if they are replaced it will be ICR's being wrecked on Dublin area services.

reports on twitter over the weekend that one galway train had toilets in a deplorable condition, seemed to be the same train in operation sunday, unless it happened twice.

Most likely the same train but a number of trains had being taken out of service because of rock throwing on saturday and sunday.

Unreal stuff!

There was a singsong/music (minus the table aspect and in conjunction with the rail operator) on the Heart of Wales line some time back and it proved popular.

1800 ex Sligo on Friday was a 22k set.
Is the 29k now finally redundant on this route?

Only the 0905 Connolly/Sligo and 1300 Sligo/Connolly on Sundays are 29k operated, which is an 8 coach.

Every other Sligo service is now 22k operated.

I suppose we are getting there for 22k across the board on this route

The Friday service 1300 ex Connolly with the return 1800 ex Sligo was 29k for some time.

29 was returned to 18.00 ex Sligo when the colleges started back and also the additional Carrick service.
