but even with the half hour wait at the junction it takes 2 and a half hours in totla which is literally 5 mins longer than the bus that goes direct but also stops at said junction the time differnce is nothing even with a crappy road competing with a crappy track when talking to students i rarely and i mean RARELY meet someone who uses the train because they assumed the train cost way more................... of course now they are right. but when i first started using the train it was €1.50 cheaper than the bus and i had the comfort of toilets and a socket for my laptop. if only the train was increased equally the way the bus was then id have no problem. but a €2.50 increase for busses and a €12 increase for trains is scandalous and shows a lack of respect for customers while trying to blind the media with the "hey Dublin i got you another present" campaign |

We understand that discounted fares apply ONLY between stations within the line
So there is a signiifcant discount Tipperary Waterford It may be worth while to investigate the fare from Limerick to Tipperary and from Tipperary Waterford. There may be a significant saving by doing this.

True but its not a breach of the rail safety act which is what all current prosecutions are under. Its not a breach of the bye laws either.
It appears only in the T&C's which have very little or no legal power

Each ticket type should be available on all trips However, the discounts on some routes are so steep that the difference between an adult and student fare may be minimal to non existent.

The 20 euro student return applies on all routes except cross border
20 euro where the normal student fare was between 20 and 30 euro, 30 euro for all where the fare was more than 30

The online booking system is currently quoting a fare of €17.40 on Cork-Limerick and Cork-Killarney.
Is it usually that cheap or is it associated with this promotion. At that rate, it's not very different from the bus to Limerick and happily beats the bus to Killarney |

This is all well and good until someone uses their ticket with a college ID to go home on Easter Monday and gets a penalty fare.

i know that they make money from the travel id's but maybe just maybe common sense will prevail apart from the huge irritation of the new limerick-waterford full fare im impressed with what they are trying to do |
