Dublin Hueston-Ennis via Athenry

Thinking of getting the train back to Ennis for the weekend tomorrow morning but going via Athenry. Just wondering will this be more expensive than going via Limerick or will it be the same price for a weekend return (58 euros) as the train takes longer?

Would like to go via Athenry to check out teh new route I won’t do this journey if it costs more than via Limerick

It is valid via Athenry, that said its generally slower

Ya I know it's slower but will check it out the once anyways. Cheers. Will take a note of the heads on the train if I remember....

Im trying to book Dublin to Ennis via Athenry on the internet but for some reason it will only offer that routing for the 7.30 and 14.30 trains to Galway.

How can I book this for the 9.30 ex Dublin changing to the 12.26 ex Athenry?
I tried dublin Gort but it wont sell web tickets, is there a reason for this?

The website only shows the most direct routings for a given journey

If a certain combination is not shown its because there is a faster routing elsewhere.

Edit the Gort/Craughwell/Ardrahan/Sixmilebridge not being on the web system is flagged with Irish Rail

Its standard in journey planners and ticket vending machines for other operators to put a "via" option in the menu. it shouldn´t be too big a deal to to set up.

Its not just useful for alternate routings (in the few cases they are available herre) but also for small detours off a direct journey.
Eg If I was traveling Cork to Dublin but had some business in Limerick it should be possible to buy a ticket that says Cork-Dublin via Limerick and I could the travel Cork to Limerick and then onwards to Dublin.

But back to my original question how is it possible for me to book a ticket on my preferred trains?

surely this cant be an excluded combination or something silly like that.
