Ticket Checks on Cork Local Services
With effect from Monday there will be a significant increase in the number of ticket checks on the Cork-Cobh and Cork Midleton services.
Passengers who board at unstaffed stations do not require a ticket before boarding the train. Anyone who encounters any 'attitude' from ticket checking staff let us know. The software in the ticket vending machines will be upgraded on Tuesday which should speed things up and should add extra ticket types and destinations. Ultimately it will be possible to collect a ticket purchased online at Midleton and Carrigtwohill from the ticket vending machines.

Also, are there any plans to add TVMs at those stations that don't even give the opportunity to buy a ticket? |

Also, we now have the crazy situation whereby IR has brought in pay parking at Little Island station with the result that everyone has decamped to the recycling site beside the IR carpark ! |

Vandals smashed it up and robbed it
Irish Rail don't own the car park, CIE do, they applied the charge. Despite numerous attempts no progress has been made on forcing a withdrawal of the charges.

Little Island has, in any case, a booking office.

I can confirm that on the 08:45 Midleton - Cork service last Friday that no less than 3 inspectors were on the train. Each inspector checked my ticket.

Little Island TVM
A TVM has returned to Little Island train station on the Cork bound platform. This must have been installed either Wednesday or Thursday as it was not there on Tuesday.
Any know why the Little Island signage has "Little Island" spelt like it reads: "Little Iceland" ? - "Littleisland" ? |

Actually, just checking Johnson's Atlas & Gazetteer "Littleisland" is the station name and on the OSi site, the island is given as "Littleisland" on historical maps. The other goof is "The Great Island", when its always "Great Island".
