Hidden Luas Ticket Agents
A while back the issue of a lack of Luas ticket agents came up
It transpires that the list on the Luas website is not complete there are in fact more out there So you can add the following TCD students union shop, Front Square left as you enter through front arch Anyone know of any others ? |

I notice that on the maps at each Luas stop every Luas ticket agent on the map is indicated by a tram symbol, I noticed there were more agents than I was aware of and more than were listed on the Luas website. That was when I realised it counted any shop that sold any kind of Luas ticket as being an agent - so basically any place that only sells Luas+Bus tickets would be counted also - is that what you mean?

Well in theory all Dublin Bus agents should sell the combined tickets
It is important to note that the ticket agents only sell a all Luas monthly ticket where as the TVM's are a lot more flexible Last edited by Mark Gleeson : 11-12-2006 at 10:06. |

More temporary than hidden but there was Smart Card 'kiosk' at the Heuston platform last night, a bright yellow tent advertising the Smart Card manned by two people. Nice marketing trick, it was very visible.

Note that you can get a Luas-included ticket (I didn't ask for Luas only) also from the CIE / IE travel centre on Lower Abbey Street (Abbey Luas stop). |

Which is complete nonsense considering the ticket agent probably gets a cut of the profits and there always is the cost of human labor... a TVM should be cheaper, not more expensive.

I think the logic behind it is trying to get people to buy tickets in advance and not block up TVMs.

Which is crooked logic. This is a tram we are talking about, not an airline where you book your tickets months ahead of time. It should serve regular commuters alright but also those spontaneously deciding to hop on. A discount for those with smart cards and weekly/monthly tickets makes sense, but for single ride or day return tickets, buying at the TVM right before boarding is the most sensible use case. It should be accounted for by having enough machines in place, not by discouraging it via financial penalties.

Well, only flexi 1-day/7-day/30-day tickets are sold at Luas agents. Singles and returns are TVM only.
(Combi Bus and Luas tickets are the same price at agents as at TVMs.) |

The big catch here is agents only sell the full Red+Green all zones ticket
The price list from the RPA quotes weekly and monthly tickets for numbers of zones, so if you travel within 1 zone only on the Green line why pay for a ticket to cover the entire network??
