Default Looking for advice on Rathdrum - Pearse commute

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone can give me any advice on the quality of the service from Rathdrum - Pearse? I am thinking of buying a house in the Rathdrum area. I don't mind the hour plus commute once I can get a seat (both ways would be nice!) and use my laptop on the train, and once the service is reasonably reliable.

Any current users of the service want to share the gotchas of this line before I fork out a load of cash? Is it crowded and stinky and unreliable like I fear?

Thanks in advance

Its a bit far to be sensible. I imagine you'll get a seat in the morning, but might have to wait until Bray to get one in the evening.

It seems reasonably reliable. I'm not a user though.

Couldn't recommend it really, for the 9-5 job there are only 2 morning and 2 evening peak services, last train from Dublin is 18:35

Its going to cost 221 euro a month, much better off looking to live closer to Greystones, much more frequent service at much lower cost

You will get a seat in the mornings, evening is luck of the draw until Bray, morning services very reliable on time, evening not so but still quite good by standards

Would driving into Greystones and taking the DART from there be another option?

All work flexibilities are lost if your last train home is at 18:30.

This is what I do. I used to travel from Wicklow town to Dublin but the inflexibility and overcrowding got to me and I now drive to the park and ride in Greystones (which is great, loads of parking) and get the DART.

You would be very lucky to get a seat on the Rosslare train before Bray or Greystones.
