Track Improvement Works - Ballybrophey/ Roscrea from Monday 21st August to Friday 25th August 2006. by Corporate Communications

Due ot track improvements works between Ballybrophy and Roscrea between Monday 21st August and Friday 25th August 2006, the following travel arrangements will be in place:

10.10hrs Ballybrophy to Limerick will be substituted by buses.

Please note a 20 minute delay may occur.

Iarnród Éireann apologises for any inconvenience caused.

It wont, the bus is quicker. This revelation could be the death knell for the service.

Don't talk to me about buses being quicker. I caught the 10:30 bus from Portlaoise today because I was late for work yesterday catching the 11:23 train due to engineering works in Thurles according to the station annoucer in Portlaoise.

Anyhow The bus didn't get to Heuston until 12:20. Isn't that an awful long time for a 50 mile journey?

The bus is no quicker because it has to serve Cloughjordan. If Cloughjordan was eliminated the bus would cover Ballybrophy Limerick in 90 mins easy.

Shame IE are allowing the branch to slowly kill itself.
