16:50 Connolly - Belfast Central
16:50 from Connolly left exactly on time but ended up crawling the whole way from Skerries to Drogheda due to a commuter train ahead. This certainly isn't the first time this has happened. Does anyone know whether this is down to bad timetabling/signalling decisions? I know an 8 car commuter will carry more people, but there's a significant cost incentive for keeping the people happy on the packed and overpriced cross-border trains.
Ended up missing my connection in Portadown over the head of it. Since it only arrived in Portadown 6 mins after the scheduled departure of the local train to Belfast, I presume there were further knock-on problems for the Enterprise as it had to sit behind an all stops service from Lisburn into GVS. |

There was a problem with the signaling in Dublin earlier
Also the ability to overtake a commuter train at Balbriggan is unavailable at the moment as repairs following the Skerries accident are ongoing A 6 minutes late NIR really should have held the connnection

Ironically I paid for that journey with the vouchers from the Skerries derailment debacle
