![]() Hello all!
Taking a day off tomorrow and heading down to Waterford. Going to do the scenic thing and come back via Limerick Junction, just for the buzz! Anyway, Im online booking the whole thing. Only thing is, better half doesnt like sitting travelling backwards. So, before I book I just want to check which was is forward (I know that sounds mad!). The graphic says its coach A behind the loco, but that depends on which end of the train the loco is on doesnt it if its the push-pull? Likewise on the way back there are seats available in carriage C but I cant figure which way is facing fowards. Sorry if this is a stupid question! Correction, sorry, this is a stupid question but humour me! Still waiting to hear back from Irish Rail after the Dublin to Limerick "unpleasantness" by the way. Got a letter to say they would be in touch.... Pete |

![]() Put simply unless you are on the 9:00 Dublin Cork, 11:00 Dublin Cork en route to Limerick Junction or 13:30/15:50 ex Cork back from the Junction (14:35/16:35 ish) I can't confirm which way around the seats are going to be
If you are on the 9:00/11:00 Dublin Cork (or 13:30/15:50 Cork Dublin) find seat C33 its a window seat facing Dublin armed with that you can choose. If its any other train and you are offered coach C, C34 might face Dublin. If you are offered the second half of coach A, left is away from Dublin, right is towards Dublin nearly always, In simple terms low numbers seat numbers are at the end away from Dublin high numbers are at the Dublin end of the coach This exact issue has been raised with IE since I believe it is important, there is known medical basis for people not liking travelling backwards problem is intercity coaches can be rotated, ie face a different way so its impossible to know but normally IE keep them the same way, the new Cork train even has a indicator on the computer for 'rotated' You could book two seats opposite each other and swap ![]() Last edited by Mark Gleeson : 24-08-2006 at 19:49. |

![]() Ok much simpler guide (will have this on the website later)
![]() This is a MK3 half first half second coach, the first class section is on the left and always at the country end of the train regardless of destination. The seat in yellow is a standard class seat facing towards Dublin regardless of the journey ![]() This is a MK4 standard class coach, coaches C through to H. The seat in yellow is a standard class seat facing towards Dublin regardless of the journey. Notice the airline style seating mid coach thats the simplest way to know Will have more later Last edited by Mark Gleeson : 25-08-2006 at 09:39. |
