There is an extra train in the evening we hear in the slot which Irish Rail told us didn't exist when we asked for it ages back

Where it goes and where it calls we don't know

17:35 to Athy is rumoured to be a runner in the 2008 timetable, that will do wonders to deal with the overcrowding on the Waterford trains either side of it, it will also take a stop away from the 17:25 to Limerick

19:25 to Limerick, another likely, used to exist ages back on Fridays. This will fill a fairly large gap in the timetable for many small stations. This may take the Portlaoise stop off the 19:00 to Cork which will hopefully overtake the 18:40 to Thurles again

Beyond that no extra trains are expected, slight changes to existing services, possible extensions on some very early trains

Serious changes to be expected 2009 once the railcar deport in Portlaoise is up and running which will mean several early morning services to Dublin and several late evening ones back. 2010 will be a massive change again

Hear that the 17.25 ex heuston will no longer stop at sallins.

Also rumour of a new 6.30 a.m. service from Portlaoise to Heuston.
