Train arriving to wrong platform
Hey
Seen this happen a load of times now in Hazelhatch since the new year. Train is advertised on screen as departing from platform 4 only to arrive on platform 5 During the Icy period people had to run across the station (in lethal conditions to say the least) to go from platform 4 to platform 5. absolutely ridiculous...why oh why can IR not get anything right????? |

On the 2nd, the 0720 from Portlaoise was cancelled and the 0610 ex waterford made extra stops. At Hazelhatch it stopped at the fast platform while all the passengers were waiting on the at the slow platform. Word had obviously reached Adamstown as the passengers were correctly positioned there.
1) Why was the train not re-routed to the slow line line when it had two stops? 2) Why were the passengers at Hazelhatch not notified of the change? |

Each trains route is preassigned into the computer and that route is set automatically. The fast tracks are designed for 100mph, the slow tracks 70mph so if you are only stopping at Hazelhatch and Adamstown you are quicker on the fast line.
Its the classic Irish Rail lack of communication, the station displays don't work and no announcement was made

0505 -Westport-Dublin - stops Hazelhatch 1840- Thurles - stops Hazelhatch 1805 - Portlaoise - stops Adamstown and Hazelhatch All of these, and more, use the slow line. The occasions when the fast platforms are used are when trains that do not normally stop have extra stops added due to failure of some other service. On the other hand, one another occasion, the automatic routing was changed when the 18:05 left at 18:15 and used the fast track to overtake the 18:10. Normally the 18:05 used to slow track. At least once some sensible actions by IE. |

By default any train which stops at any station between Hazelhatch and Heuston is routed onto the slow line. In the future any train which calls only at Hazelhatch will be routed on the fast tracks
The automatic routing can be overridden at the discretion of the signalman, on the Connolly side if this happens the platform displays normally update to the correct information, how long before that happens on the Heuston side we don't know
