What are Iarnród Éireann up to?
The day saver fare €18.50 return from Thurles to Limerick has been reduced to €16.50 but says COMMUTER PROMOTION RET on the ticket. Should i be suspicious about this. Does anyone else reckon they are trying to abolish the day saver fares.

Every single day saver fare was abolished when the fare change was made.
A select number under specific conditions have been introduced with day/time restrictions where there was a specific reason for having the ticket. The use of the term 'promotion' is deliberate to make it very clear that it is not a permanent feature. Expect a push towards weekly and monthly tickets which offer even better value Given the fare went down, I wouldn't be complaining...

I think the issue is with occasional users who don't need a weekly or monthly ticket, they just need to make a once-off trip.
