Default Minor changes to Mk3 carraiges

I noticed on Sunday that both trains i was in had a little sticker in each carraige "A", "B" and so on to enable seat reservations, i assume.

In fact half of carraige "A" on the 1010 out of Templemore was reserved, all the little reserved tickets having been placed into the seat and nice purple stickerks had been placed above the window saying the seats are reserved and do not sit there without a reservation.

Problem was, the people who had reserved were supposed to join at Limerick and Thurles and none of them had turned up, which is rather mysterious.

So, was it a prank or was it a dummy run by IE on an underused service? By the time we gotr to portlaoise the carriage was full of Laois supporters and the ticket checker simply ignored the reservations signs, leading me to think it was a dummy run.

BTWm on the 21.10 to Limerick I was surprised to see a CityGold carraige, and Im wondering if it is now a usual fixture on it and the morning return. Last year this was a mk2d train so its a big upgrade for the Limerick Service. As for the carriaige, very very quiet, and the suspension felt better as well. You gets what you pay for with IE, I guess.

After numerous complaints standard class seat booking went live about a week ago, I had been moaning about it to the right people

It appears you can book a seat (as in pick the seat you want) on any MK3, Enterprise or CDE service. You are shown the carriage layout and you click on the seat you want.
