Default When Real Time Information Goes Crazy

I find it quite curious as to the sheer volume of on time trains on Christmas Day

DARTXT of course tell me the same

Even on the 26th there are still trains apparently as every station display is proudly proclaiming something like the one in Pearse

Ghost Trains.....Did the level crossings close as they passed.

Brings me back to a time I was in Cork Bus Station waiting to grab a bus to the Aiprort. At the door for the bay that the bus departs from the new electronic display read "Airport 10:30"

At 10:25, it changed to "Airport 10:30..Boarding"

At 10:30, it changed to "Airport 10:30..Departing"

At 10:32, it changed to "Airport 10:30..Departed"

At 10:35, it changed to "Airport 11:00"

The bus showed up at 10:50 along with another one...and then the two of them made their way to the airport at 11, one half full, one empty.

I see this is appearing at the end of the online real-time information now when you receive the list of trains expected back

Quote:
This information is an estimate of arrival times based on the current location of train services from Iarnród Éireann's central signalling system, and on scheduled journey time from areas under local signalling control. Cirumstances subsequent to the time of enquiry cannot be factored into this information.
Surely though based on the location of the train from Iarnród Éireann's central signalling system, that shouldn't be a problem for working out estimated times for DARTs for example

Already shown its useless dealing with Heuston station arrivals

IE of course can't be bothered to put estimated or actual after the time allowing you to figure out if its bluffing or not

From Iarnrod Eireanns investment plans pdf

txt to get the nxt – 53700
Already a big hit with DART customers is
DARTXT – because it couldn’t be any simpler.
Just text DART and your station name
(e.g. DART Blackrock) to 53700, and get live
in-running information by return to your
mobile phone giving details of the next
trains in both directions. Because it’s live,
special trains for big events and service
alterations are reflected, meaning it’s the
most up to date train information you can
get
– and it’s coming soon to Commuter
services too!

Got a nice letter from REGTEL telling me it isn't perfect

Also got the ultimate disclaimer http://www.railusers.ie/news/news.ph...007&no=20.html

It does include the extra trains, however some jobsworth in IE never took them out so there where trains to Lansdowne Rd every Saturday last year which is interesting since there were no matches there last year
