![]() Policy is to stop the train at the first place that is accessible to ambulances, usually the next station.
I suspect they fear that if the train stops / breaks down / is blocked away from such a place, that the outcome for the passenger will be far worse.

![]() thanks.. Yeah I was there on the same carriage. It didn;t look good. I was just wondering if anyone had spoken to the nurses from yesterday and heard if he was recovering or not.
The ambulance took an absolute age to get there, definitley agree it would have been better to get him to Heuston and then to James'. if anyone hears will you post it here please... |

![]() The time he spent in the ambulance is time he was being treated or at least assessed. Staying on the train would delay that happening.

![]() The standard practice is summon help at the nearest station.
Its easy say it would be faster hold off till Heuston, that runs the risk of further issues if something goes wrong on the train and assumes James would be on call at the time in question and that an ambulance would be waiting in Heuston on arrival.

![]() The issue here points to the training/equipment the ambulance crew had
1. The wheelchair turnstile is more than wide enough to wheel a stretcher through 2. The lifts are sized in line with accessibility requirements, so this begs the question if this crew were faced with a high rise building how they would extract the patient Irish Rail signalling procedures are very clear if the emergency services want the line closed, they get it and it should be possible to hand over the track within 5 minutes. The only concern is if the issue was known before arrival at Hazelhatch the train could have been routed to up fast platform.
