Default [10-03-2010] Northern Suburban Line AM Train Door fault

The 07.12 Drogheda to Bray service suffered a door failure on the last carriage at Rush and Lusk (an older type of commuter train).
The driver must have tried about 20 times to close it from his cab, to no avail. Eventually he came down, and after about an extra 5 minutes going between the panel above the doors and the cab at the back, he managed to get it back working.
By this point, the train was heavily loaded, as it had the passengers from the 2 delayed services behind it arriving at the platform.
But instead of isolating the door, and running it non stop to Connolly, he stopped it at all the normal stations, and had more difficulty closing at the intermediate stations. Because we were so delayed, all the platforms were packed, and passengers at Donabate, Malahide, Portmarnock and Howth Junction wanted on, no matter what, leading to significant overcrowding.
Not sure if it was CTC who advised him. Anyway common sense did not prevail, and the delays were made worse.
