Ladystairs rebuilding
I passed the Lady's stairs at Ardgillan t'other night. They seem to be raised and a link across the road constructed now. Seems like steps the sea side of the road to be installed still.
I presume this bridge was raised for electrification. |

but there's fresh concrete on top of the old bridge supports. And the bridge deck across the road looked to be concrete.
It was dusk though so I may be mistaken. |

I know it was broken. The council were trying to get the contractor/IE to re-build it to be better than it was but IE didn't want it at all, it was a protected structure so to make it more accessible meant it wouldn't be the same yada yada. (Fingal co.co minutes for insomnia cure.)
I'm saying after a year and a half some cog has turned and it is finally being rebuilt and it looked like it was higher than it was before. either for muppets in the tall vehicles or electrification of the line. |

The old deck was concrete.

http://www.balbriggan.net/ladystairs.htm The new structure is not much higher than the one which was destroyed which also had capping to make it higher than the original construction carried out 160 years ago. The height as it stood allowed for electrification. The new height (the bottom is only approx 24 inches extra, the top is more) is to do with the redevelopment of the steps on either side which were not damaged. There were also calls to make the bridge wheel chair accessible. http://www.balbriggan.net/ladysstairsjan07.htm |
