Carlsberg Don't Do Commutes, But if They Did...
Something odd happened yesterday. In fact 6 March 2008 should be marked and commemorated by commuters for years to come. The reason? The 06:46from Drogheda arrived in Pearse on time at 07:56. I think it might have even been a few seconds early. This one event on its own is pretty astounding but there was more to come! My return journey on the 16:16 from Pearse arrived in Drogheda on time! This is a truly remarkable pair of events because I have been getting those trains for a few years now and they are never on time, never mind both in the same day.
OK, so it still took 70 minutes for the morning train which, in my opinion, is a scandalously long time for the distance involved but I will always give credit where it is due so well done Irish Rail for meeting the timetable. Oh, by the way, this morning's train was on time again - 30 seconds early! I am still in shock. |

Wow, interesting.
I have similar tales of punctuality to report. My train the last two mornings (06:58 from Maynooth) has been bang on time also. This mornings 07:58 from Maynooth was also on time arriving into Tara st. I wonder what is going on? |

OK, while we're on a roll. The 18.17 ex-Coolmine also left on time, as if to celebrate this, the lovely IR annoucner also let us know the "train arraving on Platform 1 was the 18.17 service to Bray". . An the train wasn't that packed...What's going on?
But the morning wouldn't be the same without a customary wait outside Connolly, which we still managed. |
