Train was a Mk II, there was some sort of problem with the PA (I think in all the carriages) which gave off a buzzing noise when train was stationary and incredibly loud 'static' - loud enough to hear when listening to my iPod - while in motion. There were no audible PA announcements. There was no sign of the guard/ticketchecker to ask about it not that it would make much difference I guess. It made the 2hr 40 min journey almost unbearable.
No point in complaining to IE about it I assume - would result in the stock answer of billions of investment, new trains next year blah blah blah???
