I'm glad to say that not only did I miss the whole Eurovision contest, but I didn't even realise it was on. I was watching an excellent band called The Legendary Shack Shakers. I'm sure you can Google for them if Unfortunately we couldn't enter them because they're not from this island or even this continent, but if we did enter something like that, whether we win or lose, we'd at least be different.

Believe it or not, I'm convinced that we've been taking the contest quite seriously for years. We went therough a phase where winning 3 times in 4 years (or was it 4 in 5?), and the nearly bankrupt RTE, if not the country. After that, I think a serious effort was made to make sure we couldn't win it, and it's taken till now to untangle that mess since the organisers reckon we could afford to win it again and probably would quite like to.

I agree, though, last year's entry was the worst song ever. We'd have been better off with "My Lovely Horse".
