There is significant disruption to Northern commuter, and Belfast Enterprise services due to a serious incident in which a 20 metre section of the viaduct has given way across Broadmeadow estuary, North of Malahide Station on Friday the 21st of August.

Due to the severe damage to the viaduct, we regret to inform customers that the line across the estuary will not reopen for at least three months, with resulting disruption continuing.

Iarnród Éireann apologises for the severe inconvenience caused.

The following service arrangements will be in operation from Thursday 27th August to Friday 28th August:

OPERATING RAIL SERVICES

Intercity Enterprise Services: Scheduled train services will operate in both directions between Belfast and Drogheda with a direct bus connection between Drogheda and Dublin Connolly. Existing train times will operate. Delays of approximately 30 minutes can be expected on arrival in Connolly and Belfast.

Northern Commuter – Dundalk/Drogheda to Donabate Rail Services: Iarnród Éireann has enhanced it's train service between Dundalk - Skerries with many extended services to Donabate from Thursday onwards.

A special bus service will operate directly between Drogheda Train Station and Dublin Connolly Car Park. Rail tickets are valid on these special services.

Drogheda – Dublin Connolly: 06:00hrs, 06:30hrs, 07:00hrs, 07:30hrs, 08:00hrs, 08:30hrs 09:00hrs, 09:30hrs, 10:00hrs, 10:30hrs, 11:30hrs, 12:30hrs, 14:30hrs, 16:30hrs, 18:30hrs, 20:30hrs, 22:05hrs

Dublin Connolly - Drogheda: 07:00hrs, 08:00hrs, 09:00hrs, 11:00hrs, 13:00hrs, 15:00hrs, 16:00hrs, 16:30hrs, 17:00hrs, 17:30hrs, 18:00hrs, 18:30hrs, 19:00hrs, 21:00hrs, 23:20hrs

Customers from Dundalk, Laytown and Gormanston can connect to this special bus service by using the Dundalk/Drogheda to Skerries/Donabate rail services. This bus service will use the Dublin Port Tunnel.

Please note: There is reduced capacity at Drogheda Station car park, to provide an area for the bus service departures and arrivals. If you live nearby the station, please walk or cycle to the station, or please car pool with other commuters.

Balbriggan
UPDATED: 18:00HRS -28 AUGUST

A special direct bus service will operate between Balbriggan Station and Dublin Connolly station via The Dublin Port Tunnel commencing Tuesday, 25th August for the morning and evening peak. Rail tickets are valid on these special services.

Balbriggan – Dublin Connolly: 06:30hrs, 07:00hrs, 07:30hrs, 07:45hrs, 08:00hrs, 08:30hrs

Dublin Connolly (Sherriff St. Lower) - Balbriggan: 16:30hrs, 17:00hrs, 17:30hrs, 17:45hrs, 18:00hrs, 18:30hrs

Skerries/Rush & Lusk


UPDATED: 18:00HRS -28 AUGUST

Dublin Bus will provide an enhanced No. 33X bus service and will accept rail tickets on this service. Passengers are to board the No. 33 at the scheduled stops to Dublin City Centre (Lower Abbey Street) from Skerries onwards and return from Lower Abbey Street. Balbriggan customers can connect to this service via rail service to Skerries. Additional buses will use the Dublin Port Tunnel, in line with Route 33X.

33X Bus Times:
From Mourne View to Dublin City (via Rush & Lusk) 06:30, 07:00, 07:30, 07:35, 07:45, 08:10, 08:15, 08:25, 08:30, 08:40, 08:55, 09:00.

Rush & Lusk Train Station to Dublin City Centre(direct) 06:45, 07:15.

From Lower Abbey Street to Skerries (via Rush & Lusk) 14:30, 15:20, 16:10, 16:35, 16:40, 16:50, 17:00, 17:10, 17:20, 17:30, 17:40, 17:50.

Donabate

A Dublin Bus shuttle service will operate directly between Donabate Station (Dublin Bus Stop) and Malahide Train Station to connect with DART services. Dublin Bus are honouring train tickets. Customers can also travel on the Dundalk/Drogheda to Donabate rail services to connect with this bus service.

Shuttle Service from Donabate Station to Malahide Station 07:00, 07:20, 07:40, 08:00, 08:05, 08:20, 08:40, 09:05

Shuttle Service from Malahide Station to Donabate Station 16:00, 16:20, 16:40, 17:00, 17:05, 17:20, 17:40, 18:05, 18:30, 19:00

City Centre Northbound

Dublin Connolly, Tara Street & Pearse Station Commuters to Dundalk/Drogheda/Laytown/Gormanston: A direct bus transfer will be in place between Dublin Connolly and Drogheda.

Northern Commuters from Tara Street & Pearse Station are advised to take the DART to Dublin Connolly to avail of bus transfers to Drogheda Iarnród Éireann apologises to customers for the disruption to services caused by the collapse of the viaduct near Malahide.
