I booked a return ticket from Brussels South to Ypres and then got the local bus to Mesen. The police had blocked the road into Mesen and I missed the return bus, which was terminating one stop from the terminus. I luckily got a lift back to Brussels.

Next day I went to Brussels South and asked for a refund. They told me I would have to go to the reclaim office in Ypres.
