It's a bit of a problem when you now have a situation where staff are assuming that everyone can use the vending machines though. i.e. there are unmanned (even if not officially so) stations. Several stations have also opened alternative entrances which are entirely unmanned and have the ticket vending machines and automatic barriers (either of the new or old variety).

It seems reasonable that OAPs should be able to get the Senior SmartPass and use it at DART stations.

It's available, for free, as a replacement for the existing Free Travel Pass and can be applied for via any local social welfare or citizens info office.
or by calling some 1890 number.

It's also accepted by Translink in NI (and must be touched on a smartcard reader on busses etc)
