Potentially you operate with a spare driver in the system. Depending on how long it takes a driver to log off at one end and another to log on at the far end.
Tram arrives at Connolly from Heuston, (some) passengers and driver disembark. At the other end of the tram, another driver gets in and takes the tram to the Point. Driver then walks to the approach end of the platform and takes the next tram to arrive. And is able to catch some air and walk off some of the stress from having to deal with Heuston-Connolly. It works better with bigger trains, but might be useful.
I wonder if there is space to create a turning loop on Amiens Street / Harbourmaster Place.
