Wouldn't a % of total journey time be more appropriate? A half-hour delay on a trip from Kildare is pretty awful, but not really as bad if it's a longer journey like Galway - Dublin.

Part of one carriage of this train was blocked off due to a shattered window and I believe more bricks/rocks/missiles were thrown at the train as it travelled last night - not sure from where but...

This even happens in Heuston where people queue to walk through an open door instead opening one themselves.

or like something like a limit on a weekly/monthly spend, where it recognises when you've reached that limit and stops charging - so you never pay more than a wkly/mthly ticket
